Repurposed Piano Action Board Entryway Table

I got his Piano action board that was being thrown out at a local antique shoppe and wondered what to do with it, I saw where some college student made a furniture piece for her art project and I decided to also make one. I made the base out of african utile wood. It was a nice experience building this one. One of my first pieces. I didn’t know much about joining wood back then.

I left the wood plain and unstained and untreated. I think it gave it the best raw wood look. I had to clean up the piano action board a bit. I made three little removable shelves on the front of it with glass bottoms. The upper shelf is also removable and seems to float out over the keys in a cantilever design. It is 1/2″ thick with polished edges.

I had fun making this. I wish I had another piano action board to make some more furniture with it. The articulation of the piano parts are quite ornate.
