The Scarecrows | by Artisan Todd Davis


I made these scarecrows from local corn leaves cut from a field right down around the corner. There was some thought in the pose of the screcrow to give a lifelike action to it. So I decided to raise the arms and bend one leg. I made a wood frame mounted to a stand at the base also from wood. I then put he clothes on and filled with recycled grocery bags you can get from grocery stores. I decided to make a papier mache head that I then painted. I used ping pong balls for eyes that I painted. Of course they all need a hat. Then you can adorn the scarewcrow with little stuffed animals if you want.
